Ryle Ramirez is a Cebu born Filipino-Canadian contemporary artist currently based in Calgary Alberta, Canada. Born in the year 1997, the birth year of the Generation Z (a.k.a. Zoomer, Gen Z-er, Homeland Generationer, Neo-Digital Native), Ramirez utilizes colours in his oil paintings added with extraordinary artistic and timely concepts through a profound exploration of the interpersonal and overall "aura" of individuals, places, and events.
Ramirez's art presents a visual snapshot of his life experiences, a collage of differing perspectives mostly seen in his "YOU" portraits; and lastly, a mass of cultural identity. Guided by the evocative process known as "MATA-MATA", which is a Cebuano expression synonymous with the combination of keen observation and visionary insight, Ramirez breathes life into his contemporary and anti-aesthetic portraits.
Having been influenced by Francis Bacon's unapologetic figures and Henri Matisse's genius in Colors, Ramirez has been fostered in an exploratory and creative setting. He freely enjoys his unique, more so, odd process of artistic exploration and creation in the present time. Ramirez's childhood also serves as the major, if not the most crucial catalyst unto his personal realization on his attachment and reverence for the arts.
* Ryle has been granted a long list of opportunities in his first year of public appearance, that includes a Duo Exhibit (Sunburnt Throat: Discovering Commonalities) with Harvey Nichol @ cSPACE, a showcasing event @ the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers Gala Night , an Artist Residency @ Arts Commons through their RBC Emerging Visual Artists Program & TD Incubator Program , A Group Exhibit, "MALAYA" (translation: "Freedom") , at The Philippine Consulate in Calgary, a YouTube web-series feature with Calgary Arts Development, YYC Living a Creative Life, and magazine features with the Second Issue of Create Calgary Magazine (written by Haider Ali) and Mabuhay Calgary Publication
